Four-stringed heaven

Somehow the ukulele found me. Boy, am I happy.

It is the perfect instrument:  small, lightweight, easy to play, and inexpensive to own. The salesman at the music store said they sell 700 ukuleles a year, so there’s a community waiting in person or on the Internet and most likely a ukulele class or club near you. And, to be clear, there’s no requirement to sing (check out Jake Shimabukuro on YouTube).

I learned basic chords at a basic class, enough to try a ukulele jam session, where people play a pre-set list of songs together.  And that opens the whole new, wacky world of ukulele … !

Ukulele festivals that sound interesting:

There are festivals in other parts of the U.S. and all over the world, including New Zealand, Australia, Taiwan, Canada, Philippines, Japan, United Kingdom, Ireland, Czech Republic, and France.

Do you play the ukulele?  Who knows, maybe we’ll meet at a ukulele jam session or festival sometime …
